Effects between mixer and computer/waves?

If i'm mixing on my 4 track Tascam, is there a way i can send the channel through a noise gate program in the computer and back to it so that it is permanently that way?? I'm using Waves programs and a lot of files in Cubase5. It would be neat to do this, cause i enjoy mixing on this tape on the Tascam and all, but don't know how to put effects on it using the computer. Also, is there a way that when i'm done with the tape and all, that i can make it into a wave file by sending it through my computer or somethin?

it can be done

wave lab would do it just as easy. use the effect send on your 4 track to route them through the computer to wavelab or cubase and put the direct x effects on it. or run your output through cubase/wavelab and back into the 4 track on a different track. but thats the long way. it should work fine
