Hey all im new to this forum and cool edit so am obviously a n00b. I've looked all around and used the search button but cant find anything so decided to finally post.

I'm trying to figure out how to edit voices out of music so the beats are just there, is this possible?

Thanks for any input. And if anyone has a personal favorite site for helping them out with learning how to use cool edit, i could use one badly cause the ones i've found dont help out much and the tutorials are hard to follow.

peace

Removing vocals usually results in a bad sounding track with some vocals still audible.

Sometimes vocals are panned dead center and you can remove stuff from the center channel (I know Adobe Audition had a vocal remover effect which did this).

But if the vocals were doubled-up (sometimes vocals are doubled and one is panned a little off center) or has a stereo effect on it (reverb, chorus, etc.) then they won't be removed completely. It also messes up the sound of the rest of the track.

Ah i see, i tried doing the vocal cut in the chanel mixer and i know what you mean now, the voice is still audible as if it were recorded Live. I might try looking into getting adobe audition, what would u rate it as on a scale from 1-10?
thanks

9. At least for what I needed to do.

Doesn't support MIDI well though. So I switched over to Reaper.

It was a really simple and easy program to use though and had a lot of nice built-in effects. I always used version 1.5. I didn't like 2.0.
