Editing differences between VST and SX

I've been using Cubase VST 5.0 to record a CD in another studio for some time and have gotten used to the editing process available whereby you can double-click on a part which contains numerous takes and in the editing window the takes are viewable on different lines so they are easily aligned and comped.

I am now beginning to learn SX 2.0 and have not been able to find any similar way of editing. The clips seem to be stacked on top of one another and the editing window only brings up the selected part. Is there no way of viewing all of the takes together in one editing window?

Confused. Any help appreciated.

I use SX 1 but i suspect this will work for you. Instead of double clicking the layered events drag a rectangle over them using the cursor. This should highlight all of the takes, now right click anywhere on the arrange page and select "events to part".

Now double click on the event as you would in VST 5 and voila the part editor should appear with all takes on different lanes.

Hope this helps

SX & SX 2.0 differences

Hi Keith,

Funny, you would think that would be the case but it doesn't work like that. When you select events and click events to part and go to the editing window it's all one together. No separation. It's very frustrating.

when you highlight al of the events on the arrange page have you checked the info line to see that you have selected multiple objects. It could be possible that when you select events to part you are only using the top event.

Beyond SX 1 i cant really help you the difference between 1 and 2 is quite big unfortunately and although 2 has some better features Steinberg have also removed some good features.
