What I'm trying to do is edit tracks from audio CD's and compile them to another CD. I want to eliminate boring intros and cut long songs into shorter versions mainly. Is there an easy way to do this??? I mean without getting expensive linear or non-linear editing software... I already have a couple of programs, Cakewalk pro studio, Oak CD manager. I have not used them much but as far as I can tell neither one will do what I want. This is all PC based...I do want to get into some recording later and that is why I got pro studio...As you can tell by this post, I am a total idjit at this point so go easy on me.

Cakewalk Pro Studio? Do you mean Pro Audio? Or Home Studio?

Whatever you meant, either one, while not the best choice for the specific tasks you describe, will certainly handle it. I think you need to play around with it a bit more, and it should all become clear.

That said, the most appropriate and starightforward tool for accomplishing your described tasks is a stereo WAV editor like CoolEdit or Sound Forge or Wavelab or any of a half-dozen others. Cool Edit has a lite version called Cool Edit 2000, and Sound Forge has a lite version called Sound Forge XP, I believe; either is well under $100 clams.

I was going to say the exact same thing....

Thanks

I appreciate both responses ...Its Pro Audio that I have now and it seems to be mainly for recording but I do need to explore it a lot more...Thanks for the input.

Make a search for Goldwave too. It's shareware and can do basic stuff as you want. The demo is fully functional.

I use Goldwave and it works pretty good for the price (essentially free).

BTW..................................

The above posted link is a shareware/freeware site. ;)
