Hey everyone,
Your help in finding the right equipment will be greatly appreciated!
I am totally new to midi, and need a device that would allow me to record audio with bass to computer, as well as provide midi sounds out to monitors. I want to be able to play midi songs and mute bass for play along, just like the dude at the local pub playing guitar and signing. Does the Edirol UA4FX fit the bill for what I need? I don't have a keyboard. Someone told me to get a box like the edirol with midi instruments built in.
Thanks!
Jackson

That looks like it would work well. You could easily just use any of the free GM (General Midi) software synths to play the midi songs on or just buy a cheap GM midi module like The Yamaha MU-50 or similar. If your playing General Midi files, just make sure that whatever you are playing them on supports GM

vocals too

I thought of something else...
I also want to plug in a mic to whatever audio/midi interface I purchase and be able to add vocals to the mix/monitors as to sing and play along with midi or audio files. Would I need some special PA and mixer equipment or can a device such as this one do everything I need i.e. guitar in, vocals in, midi i/o and out to monitors? I don't have a mixer or any type of PA equipment right now, just a home stereo setup.
thanks! :)

The edirol will do that also, just monitor on headphones. The general rule for USB audio is no more than 4 in 4 out (2 stereo pairs) at once

Thanks a lot Altitude!
I will be picking one up soon.
