Are the Edirol MA-5A and MA-10D worth anything, or are they just basically glorified hi-fi speakers? I don't have a pair of monitors, up until now i've been mixing on digital reference headphones until i read an articel about how this is bad. I don't want to spend a lot of money on monitors because i'm just doing this for fun...no one important is really going to hear my music, but i still want to be able to hear the overall mix on something somewhat accurate. Plus, i mix in my bedroom which is not the best room for music, sonically speaking. My budget is less than $100, so i thought i'd get some advice on these first.

Personally, I just can't do mini-monitors.

That being said, I've heard several solid mixes that were mixed through those little buggers. So, I'm assuming that if you can get used to them, they're probably useable.

I'd still shoot for something a little more "normal" at some point, but if that's what you can get, give 'em a shot. You can always return them.

I've had a pair of 10Ds for about a year. I'm still getting used to them. They definitly color the sound in their own unique way.

I have yet to decide if I really like them or not, but I probably need to get some more time in with them.
