Hello all.

This is my first post here, so please take it easy on the newbie. :)

I recently purchased the Edirol FA101 firewire recording device, and am wondering about the ability to view and mix input levels.

My buddy has an M-Audio setup, and it included a software mixer program that allows him to monitor input levels on all channels, as well as change input levels from the computer.

My Edirol does not come with any such software, and I am wondering if this is normal for recording boxes like this. Is the M-Audio solution the exception rather than the rule, or should all input boxes include some sort of monitoring and mixing software? If not, is there any 3rd party programs out there that may do what I want?

For the time being I am monitoring levels using the CEP2 input meter, but it is very limited and doesn't give you the ability to change any of the input levels. It's working for now, but my buddy is about to convince me to return the Edirol and get an M-Audio 1814 instead.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I heard back from Edirol on this issue.

Their response is below.

A friend mentioned that he thought I would have gotten some sort
of software mixing software with the FA101 that would allow me to
monitor levels for all channels at once.

I did not find any such application on the installation CD. Does Edirol
offer any type of software mixer with level indicators and the ability
to control input levels via the computer?

Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Greetings,

There is no such software mixer included with the FA-101. You'll need to
rely on your multitrack recording program to monitor levels and adjust
them.

Best Regards,
Edirol Corporation
