Yeah so I know it's not perfect, but I'm going for a raw yet clean and balanced mix. And input on what to do to make it sound better is welcome along with a brief explanation on how to achieve actually do it LOL would be fan fucking tastic!

This track is for an upcoming compilation CD of brutal one man bands. So, I need to try to make it sound pretty good for what it is :P

Sweet! New PhoulFil death metal!

It's brutal and almost unlistenable, so that's good. :D

The lead vocals sound really loud for the genre. In turn, some of the guits sound kinda quiet.

Otherwise, no nits from me.

Wow, you hit the genre right on the head with Thor's hammer, Phil!
Yeah the voice is a bit too in front, try to sink it further in the mix, maybe with a very short room reverb or something.
Brutal and good!

I'll lower the vocals a few, slightly raise the guitars and see how that goes. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I'd say you nailed the genra. And it's loud, I had to yank the buds out of my ears when it started and then I turned it down and put them back. I can't listen to much of this style though.

Yeah I can't seem to get it much louder than that without it going to complete shit LOL. I suck at mastering stuff and if I had cash to spare I would pay someone to do it for me. By chance I came across the Slate Digital FG-X plugin and I basically use that just to get things loud. I think it's just a mastering compressor and limiter. Compared to Ozone, it keeps things sounding nice, thick and warm where as Ozone always seems to thin everything out. I'm not any good with either program LOL. I know some folks do amazing sounding stuff with both of them. For someone like me it's nice having the Slate Digital FG-X just to get it loud and thick when your mix is already sounding like you want it. Trying to use less EQ these days anyway :D

I think this one sounds really good Phil. Keep in mind my only point of reference here are other tracks of yours, a documentary I once saw about metal that focused on scandanavians burning churches, and metalocolypse.

I too found the vocal track to be a little too out front, and I thought the cymbals were a little loud and thin sounding, but really pretty minor things.

The artwork on the page is awesome. You did that, right? The style really reminds me of underground comix.

No that was done by my buddy Bruce Rivard. He's one hell of an artist :D

its diabolical!

:D

yeah id agree the vocals a little too out front...the playing seems tight, I wouldnt know where to start on the mix but it sounded pretty balanced to me other than the vox

my daughter was not dancing to this one, my dead gran was!

Thanks. I actually recorded this song last year lol. Finally doing something with it. My playing wasn't quite as tight as it is now, but passable I guess LOL. I just don't want the song to go to waste. So, fuck it :D
