Mixing and Mastering.
OK i haven't posted a song for a while so please comment if you have the time. I can take heavy critisisms!!
Recorded and mixed in one night, tonight actually.
Its a short song as a kinda bonus track or interlude to Serotones debut album.

Please comment on Song and recording/mix. :)

Trying to listen but something's wrong with Soundclick again, can't get in there. I'll try again later.

Dang. Really looking forward to some comments on this mix.
Hope it works later.
Cheers Rami. :)

There are a few minor things I can fix. Just wondering if anyone can spot what Im thinking needs changed.

I'm really liking the feel of this. It seems dark, and gloomy, but has some bright sounds in it. I'd love to hear more of it. The sounds all seem to compliment each other, and sit well in the mix. Nice...

For some reason, my PC does this to me once a week for a day, then it stops doing it. Right now, when I try to go to Soundclick, it takes 3 minutes of nothing, then I get the "Cannot find server" message as if the site is down, but it's not...I'll try again tomorrow.

Hey, this is very cool. I do think the guitars are overriding the vocals somewhat. And it is a bit muddy. I do like where the vocals go with the delay/echo.

I really like the intro of your interlude. :)

Man nice tone on the guitar! I like the vocals, very deep and fitting for the song. The bubble effects around 1 minute add to the song too, a very depressing and slow feel. I think EQing a bit of the midrange would help the sound some. Pretty short song, sounds like it was going to be longer. Overall though, cool erie/depressing feel that I think you could definitely continue for a longer song if you want.

Yeah thanks Dogman. I love the guitar tones. Really bassy and full yet bright. We wrote recorded and mixed the track in about 3 hours. The guitarist had one guitar part (the first one) and then we decided to add to it.

excellent stuff man... a little tinny but really good.. when does the album come out?

OK thats one of the problems that you spotted and maybe even two if we are meaning the same thing.
The vocals arent loud enough at the start. Just needs a little volume automation and some hi mids added for more presence.
By muddy do you mean too bassy, or muddy and cluttered? Cause I think I might have added a tad too much lo end at mastering which makes it really bassy although listening back im quite liking the bassy sound.
There aint no delay on the vox.

Cheers for the listen. :)

Thankyou SnakeDog. :) Yeah im real happy with the guitar tones. Spent a bit of time getting the guitar/amp and effect settings right for once!! Yeah vocals are quite emotional and a bit eerie. Were all written on the spot in a few takes.
Yip bubble effect is sick. Keyboard synth with a mad setting and 2 pairs of hands caressing it to get the right dynamic feel at the right times.
What do you mean by EQ the mid range?
Yeah I kinda wish we had time to make it longer but it was a rush job and the guitarist just fired down the guitar tracks one after the other. Oh well. Its the kinda song that makes you keep comnig back for more since its so short. well it does for me anyway!!

Thanks all very much. :D

Got to hear it this morning, but had no time to comment. I pretty much hear it how True hears it. Nice mood, nice music. Vocals are too low to me. The guitars lack something or have too much lo's. Not quite sure but they lack some life. But they certainly don't have to be re-recorded or anything. Just re-eq'd a slight bit.

And Feigner finds the 3rd mistake. Yeah i added a tad too much mids on the second guitar which im thiking you are talking about.
Cheers for the listen. :)

The album should be out in the next month or so.
I can add you to our mailing list if you like for exact dates etc. Just PM me your email address.
Anynone else is welcome to join also.

Yeah your right. Mids need to come down a tad on the second guitar, but I like the full body of the lo end on the guitar, was really the idea we were going for. I hope to get back in the studio to touch up the gutiars and vox.

Cheers Rami.

Hi Eck, I wouldn't change the bass, it sounds really good. And the guitar sounds clear. I think the problems lie more in the layering on of the Vocals. Is that what you did, since there are no delays or echo on them? See I do not know the correct terms for all of this. Bear/bare with me please. :D

Okay, I have just been listening some more, and the way it sounds to me is that, oddly, even though the volume could be increased on the beginning vocals,(or perhaps guitar volumes turned down instead, so as not to muddy up more), I do think it is in the volume of the recording. As the volume increases, it begins to muddy up. Kind of how when you crank something and the more of an increase, the more jarbbled it becomes. Why do I think this? Because other than the volume increase, it all sounds great. Clear guitars, great bass sound. But as they all come togather with the vocals, the volume seems to increase, and then the jarbble happens. Just tell me to shut up!

I bet I haven't made a bit of sense!! :D

Don't get me wrong, I think this is an awesome sound. A kind of haunting tune that will stay with one after hearing it.

I know I have asked before, but is that you on the vocals? Whomever it is, has a great voice. :)

The synth and mabd bubbly noise kick in at the same time as the vocals get louder. This was the idea of a build up kinda thing with the dynamics.
I dont hear any muddyness but i kinda get what your saying. The mix kinda congeels as one and thats what i was hoping for. A kinda washy dreamy sound.
Thank for the listen. :)

There aint no bass guitar on this track. Just two guitars.
Im going to the studio right now actually to fix it. I will the new mix tonight if you wanna see if you think its better.
