i have a dilemma. My present piece is an echo layla. I notice it says that its only 20 bit, but so far, i dont see or better yet hear any reason to change, unless im doing a DEFINITE upgrade,Y'know, one of the BIG BOYZ. Until then i feel pretty much content. Just last week, I came across an "old", very small mixer(compared to my alesis studio 32) that was being sold at a pawn shop for dirt cheap. It caught my eye because of the pristine shape and quality it was in.(especially since the old guy sellin it SAID it was an old model, I took his word 4 it) I bought it for 75 bucks! Took it home, looked it up on the ever so trusty internet, turns out this "old mixer" is an alesis multimix16firewire somethin or another, and im being told its not as old as that old man thought, and im sure most reading knows its not just your average "mixer", pursey. Now i have a decision to make, should I continue with my layla, or is this firewire thing an upgrade, especially since i was told its 24bit, instead of my 20bits i get from my layla. I feel like "encino man" in a block of ice for the last 4 or more years, since i havent ever heard of this firewire connection thing for your computer recording needs! Could someone help me out with some facts and knowledge on the two in comparison, and if that extra 4 bits makes a difference?
