my guitar cable has 1 band on its plug, i am guessing that means it is mono, however, i have an A/V-1/8" cable going from my Fostex to my SoundBlaster Live! i just got my Echo Mia card today and installed it...i am stumped as to whether i should use that same cable to go into the card....of course the Mia has 1/4" inputs...so i would need to put an adapter on the end of it, which i have. (the adapter has 2 bands, so i am assuming that means stereo)

OR

would i just use regular A/V cables from my Fostex (Monitor Out) into the Digital inputs on the card? ??except?? one of the inputs says "DIn" and the other says "Dout" so, now i am thinking that the A/V cables aren't the way to go.. Is it the first way? i know this got off subject, but i'm trying to figure this thing out..thanks guys

you cant use the digital inputs of the card unless the source you are coming from is digital...

thanks gidge...if i know one thing, it's that my 4 track is indeed analog...i think??...:)

so now you either need 2 different cords that go from one RCA to one 1/4" or 1 cord that goes form 2 RCA's to 2 1/4".....

if you are recording in mono, pan it all to one side and specify in your recording software that you wanna record on the side.....

if you are recording two different sources, pan 1 left and 1 right and let your software know you wanna record stereo or stereo on 2 different tracks.....

i asked you this question in a different post, but i might as well ask you it again here, just in case...

do i have to select Mia as the recording and playback device in Windows Mixer? it would seem that i would have to, because as of now, i am not getting any signal in Cool Edit...thnaks a lot man, you've been very helpful

you may have to do that, im not sure...i never didi it with my Audiophile.....

gidge - me again, well, i went and got he cables you suggested and i am now getting a claer signal from the 4 track to Mia, but i am not hearing anything..i have two seperate 1/4" jacks coming out of Mia and into my tape deck, similar to how the SB was setup and it isn't working...do you have any suggestions?

no more problems, everything is working like a charm..thansk to everyone who lent a helping hand, especially Gidge.

hell ya! dont forget to thank me when you get that grammy....
