Hi folks

I have just purchased and tried to install an Echo Mia sound card. My problem is that I can't get the inputs to pic anything up from my microphone.

As far as I can tell it is setup correctly. I have tested the output through playing back some recordings I had made previously in Cubase. No problem. But when I try to record something tnew he volume is extremely low.

The input monitors and the output monitor are turned up full on the Mia console.

I previously used an on-board sound card (which I have not removed) and the quality was not great but certainly more audible.

The pc is a new Dell and the spec well exceeds the standard recommended.

Finally, I am using a beyer dynamic M01 microphone. Not the best by a long shot I know, but surely I should be able to at least get the same input level as achieved with my older on-board sound card.

Any advice/suggestions gratefully accepted.

The Mia has mic preamps? I don't think so. You need a mic preamp dude, you can't just plug a microphone into a line level input.

ART Tube MP: $90
m-Audio Audio Buddy: $70

And there are plenty of other cheap "starter" preamps. None of them will be on the same level as the real expensive stuff, but it'll beat the crap out of the mic pre you were plugging into on your old soundcard, that's for sure.
