I just bought myself a brand new P4 and wanted to install my echo mia card in it.

I use windows xp as operating system.
The problem is that i can't seem to install the drivers for this card. I did get the latest from echoaudio.com. I tried installing them manually, i tried several pci slots.
My onboard soundcard is disabled so no problem there...
I keep getting messages like: this data is invalid.
Really strange

Echo supports intel chipsets, so that cannot be the probleml too.

I hope someone can help me here

peace

It's probably an XP versus Echo driver incompatability. The latest upgrade may work for most XP machines but it's impossible for programmers to forsee all hardware configurations.

Congratulations, you have just become a part of the R and D process!
Call Echo or email a description of the problem.

Or get windows 98se.

Agreed, it's not XP. It sounds like one of a number of things:

1) The drivers you downloaded are either for the wrong operating system or wrong platform.

2) You're doing something wrong with the driver archive once you've downloaded it. What exactly is the process you've gone through?

3) The drivers you downloaded are corrupt. Perhaps try redownloading them?

4) There is a serious problem with the card itself and it will have to be repaired/replaced.

It would be helpful if you could try again, and write down each step you take as you do it...and the exact error message and the program generating the error.

Good luck!

I purchased an Echo DARLA 24 and had a few problems (see my thread for details.."Echo Darla 24 for $99 Deal or Dumb").

But in the end I recieved good tech support through e-mail, on the phone and needed warranty repair.

My manual indicated that each time you loaded new drivers etc that you need to insert the CD and Run ECHO DEL which deletes all previous drivers and relode the software.

You may try to delete all ECHO software from your system, Run ECHO DEL, reinstall your software, load only the latest driver to a floppy and load the driver from your floppy.

If that does not work go with the tech support route.

Thanx for the tips, didn't get me any further tho.

I installed the card on my old pc (wondows 98) and it works perfect.

Of course i did download the right drivers (xp on my new system)

i tried every different way to install it.
first i did it like it's in the echo manual. Install the drivers, shut down. Attach card, reboot and... error fest!!
Also tried it the other way around. First the card, than install the drivers. Same result. I must tell that i always properly removed the drivers before i tried again.

This is the error that it gives:
Cannot install this hardware
There wasa problem installing this hardware
The data is invalid.

In my device manager, the card is also situated by 'other devices' instead of Sound controllers

In my device manager, the card is also situated by 'other devices' instead of Sound controllers

If I remember right my instalation instructions included checking the Device Manager to verify the correct "location" and remember my experience is with the ECHO DARLA and Window 98 only.

Since your MIA works in Window 98 on your older system and it is listed in your XP system device manager as "other devices' instead of "sound controllers".....it seems logical that this could be the issue.

Then again I have no experience with XP and a not so good track record with getting PC's to work right for me.

I hope this is helpful and not annoying.

Please reread this.

Thanks.

Let me repeat by saying it is not an XP/driver issue. It runs absolutely fine on my computer. It is another hardware or software issue, other than the driver.

Win98 is a pile of shit, I would recommend switching to a TI88 calculator before switching to Win98.

Hello again

i'm glad to announce the problem is fixed now.
I'm not shure why it is fixed but this is what i did.

I completely disebled my onbourd card (jumper, bios and device manager).

Than, i did install windowsxp all over again, with complete format.
When the add new hardware wizard opened, i clicked cancel and did run the setup program containing the drivers.
By now, the card was installed but the console(mixer device) was not available.
Than i did run those beta drivers available on the echoauido site, no succes.
I did a system restore to just 1 point earlier, run again the setup program and everything is working fine now.

A lot of work, and i still don't know what was the exact problem, but everything works fine now and that's the most important.

Thanx for trying to help me out.

Peace
