im thinking of buying the audiofire 12, i recently had an audiofire 8 but decided to sell it on due to its number of inputs. i loved the sound quality of the audiofire but the e-mu comes bundled with a load of software, can anyone add any pros/cons about the audiofire 12 against the 1820m? thanks

Not having used the audiofire, take this for what is worth: I think the "sound quality", i.e., the quality of the convertors, is better on the emu. I say this because I HAVE used the 1820m, and consider the convertors to be very nice indeed. I have NOT heard the same about the audiofire.

No one I have heard of who bought the 1820m had anything negative to say about the sound quality.

YMMV.

I think if you're used to the Echo, then the EMU might just drive you nuts at first. :D They both sound really good, so I wouldn't worry about that. But if you like the easier and more intuitive mixer interface of the audiofire ... then you might find the EMU to be a bit more challenging at first. Just thought I'd warn you.

thanks for the tips... i think i'll go with the echo as i can't be bothered farting around trying to get the e-mu to work
