easy soft sequencer to start with

Hello everybody. After having bought the audiocard (RME 96/8) i need to select the easiest to use but quite effective software sequencer for my PC.
I have an Athlon 1700+ and I need it to record track by track (I am alone with my synth) to build up a song.

I will also use a drum machine software like waldorf attack and genre of music is electronic.
cam you help me in the easier choice for a newbie of the HD recording ??

Cubase all the way

p.s.: ... the upcoming Cubase SX will blow competition away. Seems like a better Nuendo with all the VST Midi functions. VERY nice thing.
