Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone will respond with explicit instructions on how to make my headphones work right from my computer. I'm having trouble with lots of staticky noise once I plug the headphones into the speaker jack. Maybe I'm putting it in the wrong place or do I need a (better something)???in order so that it is clean sounding. It's funny that when the speaker is plugged into this jack there is a clean sound. Yes, I admit it, I am a newbie and that's a fact but I still need help :D
thanks,
Linda

I got a Dell computer a few months ago and found that I could not properly plug in my best headphones into the headphone jack. The jack is slightly recessed into the body of the computer and the design of my headphone plug (the area you grip when you push in and pull out the plug) does not allow the plug to seat properly into the jack. I have two cheap walkman-type headphones that work fine when I plug them into the headphone jack. You might want to take a close look to make sure that nothing is hampering the plug (making sure it is going all the way into the jack). You could also try another pair of headphones.
