early punk bands recorded live phasing

early punk bands most recorded live for their albums but they have alot of phasing from mics bleeding how did they get this sound with alot of mics but what kind of cheap recorders used for this type of sound please?

ummm....throw up a bunch of mics on stage and don't pay attention to how shitty they sound

then run the main outs from the mixer into a shitty cassette deck

but how do i set up the mics so they sound like shit and phase shift alot with alot of phasing problems like the punk rockers did

Do u guys know what punk rock albums that im talking about that has alot of phase cancellation and phase shifting when they play live on the albums which ones please?

to get phase shifting you want a lot of cancellation and degrees of shift is proportional to distance from source and difference of distance of seperate microphones omni figure 8 and cardaroid pickup pattern microphones mixed to a cheap common buss powered mixer l/r not aux send into a cheap radio shack equaliser with extreme cut and boost for electronic phase shifting into consumer casette deck with poor wowandflutter specifications and with no dolby enabled will help to get what you are looking for.

That was harder than it looked. Now I think I have a headache. lol

thanks for the help

I thought the punk bands just used a bunch of 58 or 57 or even cheaper mics

So i use a common buss group to mix and combine the mics together submixing them into a VCR or what kind of cheap tape deck?
