Is there an ear bud system that is not wireless. Our gigs can be as long as 4 hrs. and none of us want to deal with batteries and dropped signals in the middle of a show. Are all the wireless systems AC adaptable?

Thanks,
Rusty K

When I used ear buds on stage (visible to audience), it wasn't wireless. It was just lines to a couple headpone amps (Rolls brand, and in between pairs of us) with long extensions tucked in our waist-bands/belts for strain relief. Not terribly elegant, but it worked for us. We were also not very mobile - we were actually in cage-like things, but that's another story... though, not as interesting as you might think. As long as you have a spare aux or two and some enough returns on your snake, it's doable.

When not visible, I use full-sized headphones with individual monitor mixers (Hear Back).

Whale Bone,

Great, thanks for the idea! Until I read your post it hadn't even crossed my mind that headphone amps could be used with ear buds. I have a 5 channel headphone amp which is, ironically the number of singers we have in the band. Of course that wouldn't allow for separate mixes but we're not used to that anyway. Thanks again for stimulating the old brain cells.

I'm still on this one.

The headphone amp idea worked in my garage mock up with regular head phones but it brought up another question. Some of my guys may not want to use two ear buds. Does anyone make them so that they can be separated? I guess a regular ear bud set could be cut apart but I hate to start hacking on something that's brand new.

Thanks,
Rusty K

If they are going to be wired anyway, just dress the other earbud back along the cable and tape it off...no need to cut anything.

I guess I should have clarified that we're cheap s.o.b's. I was hoping to find an inexpensive way out...you know one ear bud half price. :D

Thanks,

foreverain4,

Excellent...thanks for the link. I never thought of Radio Shack. We may not be able to live with RS quality but at least we could get a trial run without spending too much.

Gracias,
