I'm currently using an E-MU 1212m interface, which works fine, except for the fact that the software part (including drivers) kinda sucks. And I have no hardware controller to adjust the output volume, which I find more and more annoying.
I've recently thought on swapping it with an M-Audio Fast Track MKII interface. Reasons are, it's external (so I actually touch it
), has volume knobs, headphone output and I can use with my MacBook, so I can take it along with my headphones when I'm not home.
Question is, is it worth? I'm not a pro, I don't need tons of inputs and outputs, I'm not even using any gear except for a MIDI keyboard, but I heard that the E-mu has better A/D converters.
I've had a lot of issues with the E-MU and I'm thinking the M-Audio is easier to use since it's plug'n'play.
I'm also curious about latency. Since it's using USB 2.0, I don't think this should be an issue, right? Again, I'm not an audio guru or tech geek.
