okay right now I have a nady sp1 going into my soundcard directly.... I plan on getting a preamp for it soon but my question is this... is there a dynamic mic out there for around $50 or so that would be worth trying out as a vocal mic... I record hip hop so im looking for clear and crisp vocals. thankx for any replies.

step up

hello

i have several Nady mics, and i use them for many things (like micing guitar cabs and stuff). They're not that bad, but then again, they aint that good either.

Almost ANY mic would be a step up from the nady sp1.

The "STANDARD" mic for the application you have listed in either the SURE SM57/SM58. These are going for about $89/$99 right now, so they are close $$.

You could look at the PG series insted of the SM grade and get into your price range.

There are many other mics in this range, look at one of the on line vendors like www.musiciansfriend.com and see what you find.

good luck

for $50 bucks or less, you'll probably get the same dynamic mic at Radio Shack that you're looking for elsewhere. You're not going to get clear vocals like you're probably looking for with a $50 dynamic. You can pick up some low-end Large Diaphragm Condenser mics for 60-70 bucks at american musical or other places like that. They're not great, but it'll sound a lot clearer and crispier than that Nady your using.

It depends on what your expectations are. If you want something that will simply transmit your voice, then you could do that for even less. Anything beyond that might be stretching things. :D

i was thinking about that PG series but i think im just going to work with what I have untill i do save up some funds then get a LDC like the mxl v67g. I just wanted to see if there was something I could do b4 I save enough to get get some pretty got stuff but i guess not.

Get an Electro-Voice EV 635a omni dynamic.
Amazingly clear for a dynamic.
You can "eat" it up close BTW.
