Duron to Athlon?

I'm using a 1000mhz Duron on a Gigabyte GA-7DX that's starting to choke badly!I just went 24 bit,plus I'm getting more into virtual instruments and using software for my guitar processing.My RAM is only 256MB also,so I need to double that.
Would say,a 1.5 ghz Athlon give a large performance boost over the Duron,or would it take a larger jump to make a noticable improvement.

Beezelbubba,
An athlon will give better performance than a duron, especially the step up in processing speed. Kind of like the difference between Intels Pentium, and Celeron processors. The RAM upgrade is a biggie, when you only have 256 at the moment.

processor speed and bus speed along with ram will give you a noticeable improvement. especially when running 24+ tracks
