Dumb v67 question

Finally got a chance to test out the v67 today, my first large diaphram mic. Great sound. Small problem with the swivel mount. As this is my first LD mic, please excuse the dumb question but....

Can't get the dang swivel mount to work. I assume the locking nut on the bottom of the mic passes through the mount to lock the mic to the mount (seems pretty obvious). However, in my case, the nut is slightly too large to pass through the mount. Ultimately I "rested" the mic on/in the mount without locking it down and the weight of the cable kept it in place well enough for my mic test tonight. Pretty hokey, though.

Anyone else have this problem with their v67, or am I just being dense?

I don't understand exactly what you did, but how it's supposed to work is that you unscrew and remove the black knurled ring from the bottom of the mic, seat the mic in the holder and then screw the ring back onto the mic to secure it.

Good Luck.

Vox,
That's my problem, the locking "ring" is slightly too large to fit through the mic holder. Wondering if I might've gotten a swivel mount for another mic instead of the v67?

If no one else has the problem (or a solution) I guess I can sand the mount down so it'll accept the locking nut. Oh well...

Maybe you got a lemon, because mine fits perfect. Send yours back and have them replace it with one that works.

Here is a pic of the way the 3 pieces are suppose to go together.
Hope this helps

Herm,
Thanks for the pic. Yeah, that's the way it's supposed to work...but I got a defective (small) mic holder. The Ebay company I dealt with was very late in delivering the mic, so I don't have a good feeling about sending it back. A few minutes with some sand paper should fix the problem, but sheesh, what a pain.

Since I got mine with the shock mounts, I don't use the holders. Send me your address via an email, and you can have one of my V67G holders.

Geez, people, this is not a big deal. I had some extras of what he needed, so I'm giving him a little part I've never used in two years of owning the mic.

He coulda gotten similar, faster results by calling Marshall's toll free number and explaining the problem. I'm 100% positive they'd have sent him the part free.

But as I said, it's no big deal.

eadgbe, it'll go out airmail tomorrow morning.

It's heartwarming, that's all. How often does something heartwarming happen on the internet?:)

Definitely above and beyond the call of duty, Harvey. Thanks a bunch.
