the bass is an actual 15" cab miked with a nady scm900 large diaphragm condenser mic.

fed - im surprised that you can tell that its the neck pickup, which i favor, and its not a real amp! you have a good ear!

im not going to do any more covers for a while and i hope to include real lyrics and singing in the future!

thanks for all the kind words!

:)

Jeap... nice blues tune. Perfect bass and lead mix. I would have cut down the vocal verb a little. This isn't a dumb one. Listening to the lead right now.... I love that shit.... cool.

I listened to the singing version and found myself tapping my toes! Funny lyrics too, in a good way...

This was pretty cool.

Mixing wise the only feedback I have is maybe to up the drums a bit so the beat really stands out. Maybe lowering the verb a tad as well imo.

Overall I like this...it moves along nicely!

i agree but i ran into the old problem of the balance between the snare and hihat. if i turn the snare up the hihat is too loud. you can hear my snare ghost notes and then i added a tambourine to the 2 and 4 to make them stand out better. kind of a compromise.

i put a bright hall reverb on in soundforge and i agree that its too much. it really shows on the vocal and not so much on the karaoke version. i think this gives it a lo-fi feel because i certainly was trying for the highest fidelity possible given my cheap equipment.

:)

theron - yes i like some of buddys tones and it does sound like that. i think his tone is can be great!

triple m - the chops i played were mostly in the freddie king style and he plays mostly in 3 positions. i went for 4 positions but i see that it sounds like mostly in the same area. its an area that kind of screams well for me. when i go for low positions it gets lost sometimes so i dont do it so much anymore.

jon - what drugs am i on???? i used to smoke weed - dont tell anybody - and i probly would again. or do you mean stuff like prozac?

bob - i used to be called the tremelo king. i had a musicman 120hd 410 with tremelo. thats 120 watts all tube and 4 10" spkrs btw and i used to play all my rhythm stuff with heavy trem. im trying to cut down but i like it so much!

badgas - i bet you were surprised that i really used "get up offa that thang!" i will take your advice and put a more appealing heading on my next "load of crap" (just kidding).

Jeap....maybe we really should call this site "Ask Jeap". :D

Even though we have difference of opinion on guitar center(my favorite place) I have to look beyond and say great job!

sounds nice!

well thanks rushfan :)

i used to live in san diego and i went to the guitar center there and i thought it was a great place.

if i lived near one i would go often but luckily i live in the middle of nowhere.

i lived in nashville for a year and they have some good stores there. one place just has used guitars and they had a gretsch white falcon. they had a row of fender mustangs. a row of jazzmasters. a row of jaguars. just to give you an idea of the selection. the only place ive ever seen that had a big selection of that kind of stuff.

I read that you used to sell cars in cilicon Valley....where at? I'm in Fremont ....not too far from there! It's a great place....not much of a music scene though. :(

i sold hondas and pontiacs at larry hopkins honda in sunnyvale. there were some good clubs around with live music and every time i went to san francisco i got involved in some fun musical experiences. the musicians there are ready to play anytime. down in southern cal they either think theyre too good for you or not good enough. very self conscious.

ha ha ha i just remembered that when i lived in sunnyvale i went to see the doors movie and that guy that played morrison was perfect. well one of my roomies had magic mushrooms and i ate a whole bunch of them. i wound up being held in a hospital overnight for observation cause somebody called the cops on me...

im glad you liked the sound fenderlikingood!

:)

Dude that song was cracking me up. Good playing and stufff. The singer (Is that you) sounds like quite possibly the white-est man I have ever heard.

Get Down, Get Funky, Get right back up again.

yes thats me.

i have to do everything cause i dont have anybody to help me...

i had this idea for a floating kind of jam band called the rolling dingleberries. if i ever get into a situation i guess i could hire ppls to do most of the parts!

yep im a white guy but i think ebonics are soooo funny!

yeah..."dumb tune" got me to be the 43rd poster, I guess;)

sounds like it's coming out of the corner bar down in the French Quarter...or some place like that.

Nothing mind shattering, but some nice white man blues...

i know what you mean by white man blues which i usually refer to as white boy blues...

its got to have cliche intros endings and turnarounds to show how legit it is. its usually uptempo and played with as little soul as possible.

then you listen to a howling wolf album and sometimes you dont even have chord changes let alone turnarounds.

this is just a rendition of "get out of my life woman" where i tried to get the feel that i heard on an obscure jimi hendrix live album i bought as a kid. it had the turnaround so i put it in.

i changed the words so as not to infringe but i guess nowhereradio has lots of covers on it. i should ask waldo what he thinks.

:p

the french quarter thing is a huge compliment! the original tune is a new orleans thing by alan toussaint so its quite fitting! i try to put a little cajun in my stuff and ive been through those parts and i dig a swamp feel! the french quarter seemed like a great place to die!
