Dumb Question But I Don't Know What I'm Doing

Hey. I just bought a pre-amp (M-audio DMP3) and sound card (Audiophile 2496) and I'm not sure how to hook the pre-amp up to the sound card. I know this is a somewhat ridiculous question but what can I say. Does anyone have this set up for their system and can tell me what sort of cables I need to record with just one channel and also with both channels at the same time? Any help is much appreciated.

Start with something like this:

then just get a rca patch cable.

That HOSA Y cable is not what you need.
Even though the DMP3 has balanced outputs, the 2496 is un-balanced.
You will need two Male 1/4" TS to Male RCA cables such as two of these.
