Trying not to be lame, but here i go..... I bought the m-audio fast track audio interface with the pro tools m-powered essentials recording software to go with it.
First question.......can i use another recording software with this interface? Pro tools is kicking my ass!
Second question.....I do not want to go down completely defeated, so i really want to learn something about this software....I can not seem to get a playback, hear a playback when I record a guitar track. I have followed the instructions to the best of my knoweledge, and maybe its because i have windows 7 and there still might be another driver i need to install???
And final question....Cant seem to find any drum tracks i can use for recording, basic or not???? Stupid me picked a Harvard recording software program when I should have looked into Grade school Recording instead.

Any help will be appreciated Thanks

Well, the Fast Track should work fine with most bits of Audio software I've used both the Fast Track and the "Mobile Pre" with several brands of software, including Adobe Audition, Audacity and a bit of playing with Reaper. My last experience with Pro Tools was more than ten years ago so I won't try to talk you through the setup there.

However, I find the choice of software to be a personal thing. There are some brands I get on with and others I don't--but none are quite in the grade school category--expect some learning curve whatever you try. However, to avoid spending more money, why not download a few free trials and see which you like, probably starting with Reaper.

Hey Bob, thank you very much. My roomate has guitar tracks, do you think that might work??? And what do you think of Audacity??

Audacity is good for the price (free) but Reaper is worth every penny of the $40 and it has a free trial
