I recently picked up a second lcd monitor for my setup. I am running Pro tools 7.4 on Windows Xp. I am able to drag the transport, memory locate windows etc...onto my other screen but for some reason I am not able to take the Mix or Edit window off the screen that pro tools is actually open on. Does anyone know if this is a known issue for Windows based pro tools? I have a buddy who runs two screens off his Mac with no problem. I am a little frustrated right now. I have 40 inches of screen space now and I can't separate the two windows that I would like to the most. Any ideas? I did a quick search but nothing seems to be coming up. I have to be missing something.

thanks in advance

You have to pull the protools window across the screen.

ok haha, I knew I was missing something simple. I didn't even think to try dragging the main pro tools window.

thanks!

well my video card has a VGA and a DVI-D output. When I purchased it, I didn't think it was a true "dual video" card but I later found out that it will treat both outputs in the same manner that using dual video cards does. So no, I did not need a second video card. Do a search for "dual video card" there are tons available and they are pretty low cost these days.

I will let you in on a secret, if you have an old machine laying around the house strip the video card out of it and place it in your new machine and you can run 2 monitors that way, mind you not the best quality on the 2nd monitor meaning every now and then you will see a line or 2 but that's what I did until I had the money to purchase a dual video card.
