just been setting up my dual monitors everything is good i can get both monitors to come on with matching desktop background .The mouse moves from one to the other. The problem im having is clicking & dragging things like webpages icons are easy. And also when i lick on a icon on my secondary monitor the programmes opens up on my main monitor.Any help please oh im on windows xp (sp3)

Generally, the programs are going to open on whichever monitor it was on when it was last closed. Try opening a program, minimizing it, dragging it to the second monitor, then closing it. The next time it's opened, it should open on the second monitor.

LDS is correct, programs will (usually) open on whichever monitor you last had them on.

Its also worthwhile to check which monitor is set as your primary monitor. As you've probably already figured out, dual monitor setups are managed through the Control panel / Display / Advanced tab. When using "Extended desktop" Windows usually defaults to having your Primary monitor (the one Windows taskbar appears on) on the left, and your secondary monitor on the right. The "big three" Video chipset makers (ATI, NVidea, and Intel) all include utilities with their video drivers to manage this. Good luck!

just tried minimizing a programme then dragging still no joy im afraid:facepalm:
