quick question.........when running 2 monitors, do they have to be the same resolution or can i run 2 completely different monitors? (i have a newer and an older monitor) also will this tax my CPU at all?

It really depends on your GPU.
Most of the radeon/gforce ccards after about 2002 seem to handle 2 different resolutions fine.

I know that Gefore FX and 6 series do, and do it well (i know this 'cause I'm in the same baot- one old and one new monitor).

And no, the output is handled by the GPU not the CPU, so there's no extra drive on the CPU

thanks alot for the fast reply! and its working like a dream

Are you running a Mac or PC.

I'm on Mac (G5) and it doesn't seem to matter.

worst case scenario is set resolution to whatever the 'least able monitor' (now's there's a decription worth discussing) is capable of.
