Just upgraded to dual AMD MP 1600 with tyan motherboard. I was using a 1.2 gig thunderbird. In terms of plugin-dsp, this new machine is more than 4X more powerfull than my old one. Some of this is attributable to the faster memory - pc 2100 ddr - as opposed to the pc 133 I was running before. I ran 4 waves RVerbs and 1 waves C4, and my CPU was only at 40%. Under win2K, the load is being well balanced between the 2 procs. What can I say - just wanted to share with everyone that dual AMDs work very well for audio.

BTW - i am running ntrack with delta 1010, but i think all major software will work fine with multiprocessor.

Sod that... don't waste it on audio! Get Q3A on that baby immediately.... 600 fps... nice.. :D

Very nice to know, I'm waiting for my mobo to arrive. The processors are here already and nothing to run them on aarrrrrrrgggghhhhh!!!

thread revisited

Does this mean that your audio prog runs "multi-threaded(?)"? Im curious about this concept. What progs utilise multiple processors??

xoxo

All programs that are decently written can utilise multiple CPUs, if the OS supports it.
