hey thanks for all the listens guys

powderfinger. Yeh i wasn`t plastered just a tad mellow. Glad you liked though. It would be great to add a nice guitar and a really bass and beat towards the end.

WATYF. hey dude. I very much agree with you, at least it passed as a song. I listening again in the morning and thought that would sound cool with this and that and then realised I don`t have anything to record with. I look farward to another song from you soon? ace

Man 1 star!, doh. It does sound trash on lofi though.

chrisharris. Wow. thats is the most charming thing you could say. Thankyou ever so much for just listening. you`ve made my day.

B.SABBATH. Hi sam. Mate I really would have loved to add more but I actually don`t even have a guitar anymore. It really is frustrating sometimes becasue i know what i want to do in my head but I don`t have anything to use. Just Me, a room and the 4 track and i cant go back and change stuff easilly either. Bit of a pain really. I must have written 30 songs this summer but due to time, brothers and no quip I end up with nothing. This is why i hav`t posted much. later

JR#97. hey man, Thankyou, really.

Guernica. The vocs are recorded much better thank to all you guys advice and was shocked the next day that this was just one take! must drink more often.

jcmm. Joel dude, your right. I should get pissed more often.

A1A2. hi Al. Yeh thats just what I was going for and how I was feeling. the nylon was a bit nuts but hey. Yeh i worked in the evenings in the Bar, Local pub, local rules kind of place. Spent the summer chatting up the tourists. Cheers fhe great vibes

muzeman. Hi Pete, thats great. I`m always happy once you`ve said your words. You are too nice to me though. I`m glad you stuck it out till the end. I like the build too. Thanks again.

erichenryus. Alrightee mate. Yeh i think i got the right setting on the vocal this time. Must be all your advice! It is a bit wierd this song but Im glad you think its cool. Bar tender, just like that..later

alibish- Hi there. I couln`t agree more about the additions but I really have nothing to use plus I don`t know how to cut the mids etc. I just use the Br532 and a dynamic and tweek it as i go along. My electric accoustic is damaged and I can`t plug it in without strange noise. man its frustrating not to have the sounds you want. Thats why i just have to beat and bend the acoustic until it makes the different sounds! I would like to say that i listened to certain song of yours today, wowsers, now thats a song! teach me the ways master. Later, Erland.

:)

Oooh, another Erland for me ears!

I'll check it this evening for sure :)

The acoustic is a bit muddy, maybe too punch in the low-mid range, but the effect of a muted guitar isn't bad here...

The background vox are pretty sweet and I even like what the tune's about...

Another winner with a few minor adjustments :)

Let me know when you want to produce a freighttrain behind a song and I'll give you 40 locomotives :p

tell you what il trade you my house and truck for yer voice straight across????....its a new truck??.......
nice back ups as well....cool how it builds up .piece by piece....
i can hear some hiss in this?...might be my speakers...?
cool guitar fade in...man that is nice......

as expected ..this is great....

thanks
jamal

how come you don't have any spaces between the words in the titles of your songs???...or are they just one looooong word?:p

yeah...this guitar clunker your playing sounds like it has a wet blanket over it....
infact the whole tune seems to lack any high end. But...you do sound comfortable playing it!! ..even though you might have tipped a couple too many!!

Like all your stuff, TO ME it sounds pretty good, but seems like the step BEFORE any production is done, and the songs are more like sketch pads for what they might become. You have a great voice...as confirmed by all the others here....and a decent knack for coming up with a couple neat riffs and some good lyrics to put on top of them. TO ME, it is all very "bare bones" and comes from the "demo camps" of the 70's. Some (read, I suppose "many") people like the minimalist approach to some music styles, but I think there are a couple of things that NEED to be done to 'update' the music, and make it more sonically pleasing to listen to. If all you're wanting to do is get the idea of a song across, I would say you are suceeding in spades... But to keep it all a "solo" style act, some more flambouyant singing and/or guitar playing...with a good sound would be in order. Leo Koetke plays and sings solo alot....not saying you need to sound in his style...and wank the strings like him either...but he sounds GREAT...good tone, recorded very well, and it just HOLDS your attention. His guitar just sounds fabulous... HE IS TAYLOR guitar. I think the same with all the "solo" acts. There is something special that makes 'em that. You are SO CLOSE, but just need the last final touches, IN MY OPINION. It's extremely easy to just add a bunch of stuff on your songs (as even evidenced by some of MY abortions on your stuff...granted some in fun), but some TASTY things here and there to COMPLIMENT your stuff is crying out big time to happen. I think if you went out, broke into some pawn shop, and grabbed a Triton Studio...you'd be set!!!

Sorry for not gushing...you've got a great crowd for that already...and I already do it quietly off to the side too...anyway. But, I think you need to take the next step, and get out of the song writing mode, and move on to some really finished products. I think you'd be really pleased with what you could come up with....unless you're a rocket scientist and just do this for fun-zies... But, I tend to think you are more serious. NOW>..sober up young chap...and find a producer/band/recording contract...and come back and visit us here often
;)

Erland,

Seriously...

Ya know what I'd like to see? Instead of the "produced/big deal/rah rah rah/10 pianos and a string ensemble" type thing most people would want to have your music put down like, I'd love to see a finished album project from you done JUST the way you do it.

I mean...even if it were done in a more pro environment with the right producer but still done in that "simple/almost lofi" way you work in, that would be nice. To me, the WAY you record is equally important to your sound as your music is. In fact, its what draws me in to listen to your songs....the sound of it. Its all very creatively done. Really, theres no reason you couldnt do it EXACTLY the way you do it except a more pro environment would give you a few more tracks to work with and stuff. Maybe find a nice small studio with like....a 1" 8 track machine. You would rule.

I suppose it's not the "fame and fortune" route everyone like to convince themselves of but, I'll bet you could get some pretty large Indy labels interested. I could even recommend a few to shop to (though I have no ties with any)

I'd love to see it, man. Just a thought.

I got a Neil Young feel on this one. Nice song. I thought the "ba-ba-da's" backing vocals were a nice touch.

The guitar sounded a little muffled to me. WHile your voice sounded great as usual, it didn't have that "right in your face" feel of your other songs. Anyway that's how it seems to me.

But it's still a nice listen. Trip...

"sheesh, I sound like a groupie, I know... "

It's the same thing every time Erland posts a new tune. That's cuz everybody recognizes what he's got; many of us have talent, he's got a gift. It doesn't matter if he pollishes up a piece, or plays it on a piece of crap old guitar. Right out of the box it's honest, it's good, and it stands on it's own merit.

Erland - I was reading your first few posts, and found myself dying to hear your early stuff. Could you put them on Nowhere? Or email them to me? Or just sign a deal and I'll buy them in the shops? ;)

Cheers

Erland,

I like this one. It has a very repiditive feel, almost trancey which I like. There is this awesome tension that builds up during the bridge but never gets resolved. Its the part that goes "all your times gone, all your times gone" around 2:03. I can almost hear the electronic music, drums, etc, filling out the sonic space and taking the song to the next level.

Hey I have a request. Could you please, please, please repost my favorite song of yours. I don't know the name of it but it I believe it was posted possibly on the first thread you ever wrote on this BBS. It blew all of us out of the water. I will attempt to write down as many of the lyrics that I can think of so that it will spark your memory.

"Would you take me girl to your hide hole far away, even if there's nothing to say hey hey hey"
Chorus: "We don't even care girl cause you know it's a brand new time. ....always shared girl cause the best things have no price"

Unfortunately.....Erland's gone. He had a thread about it called hmmmmmmmmmmmm..can't remember but he's off to London and then Spain so he's not sure when he'll be around again.

Listened to everything on the page and I'm quite impressed. Your voice is just wonderful and the songs are perfectly simplistic. Please continue to post when you can on your travels, I want more, more, more! :D

Get signed quick ... I want these songs on cd.

Thank you for confirming that great songwriting can be captured from a home studio.

Well, who dug this up??

are all these newbies finally discovering Erland...??

:D

I can't even remember how the original song went.... hhhmmmm... maybe somebody should buy Erland a pay subscription to NWR so he can post every song he's ever done... hhhhmmmm... maybe I should do that.... hhhhmmmm....

:p
