One more question I not to sure if you can just sequence drums in Cubase sx 2.2 can you?

or do you need a keyboard connected to midi? (might be a stupid question)

I see all these drum maps or things I have no idea what to do with them.

You should read the manual a couple times.

dont have it or otherwise I wouldnt be asking.
 I won't go there!!! Do you have an online-manual (via your help menu)???

To answer your question, you can either drag individual samples onto audio tracks, and manually construct tracks that way, or you can get a sampler or drum synth, and trigger them via a MIDI keyboard or MIDI sequences.
Drum maps basically just assign a note name (i.e. Kick, Snare, etc.) to an actually note (i.e. B3, E6, or whatever), so that when you edit drum parts in the drum editor you are not looking at a picture of a keyboard but instead the name of the percussion instrument being played. A handy feature for working with non-chromatic instruments. It is obviously more detailed than that, but you really need to dig into the manual for more specific functions and application.
