Let There Be Drums
Hi Strev,
Let's assume you want to create some drums tracks of your own (like I do!)
I'm going to make the following assumptions:
1) CakeWalk is open
2) The default Track View is visible
3) The HomeStudio1 - Track All tab is selected.
4) The tracks in descending order are
1: Audio 1
2: Audio 2
3: MIDI 1
4: MIDI 2
OK? Let's do it
Look for the
FX box in Audio Track 1.
Right click on the two arrow heads
<>
Click on DX Instruments
Click on VSC DXi
Either minimise or drag the Edirol VSC out of the way of the track view LH pane.
In MIDI 1, look for
Ch None. Click on that and scroll down to Channel 10. That's the percussion channel.
Go to
Out and it should read 1-General MIDI Drums. Click on that and choose 2-VSC DXi
Next, go to
Bnk and click on 15360-GM2 Drum Set.
Go to
Pch and click on Standard1
Now when you click on the Piano Roll view you will be able to see the names of each of the drums, cymbals and other percussive instruments.
Set up your tempo and use the selection tool to place the hi-hat, snare and whatever to your liking.
Easy really
Have fun - and don't forget to save your work!
