I'm looking to buy some mics for drums when I get my tax return (I may make under 6000 bux a year, but I give myself a really nice present once a year). Here's as much info as I can think to give you.

I'm recording using an old TEAC reel to reel 8 track and an old TASCAM mixer. I record demos for young bands (usually in their practice spaces), myself playing guitar, bass, drums, sometimes piano as well as singing, and every once in a while I record singer/ songwriters who just play guitar and sing. Hopefully this gives you some idea about the level of quality I'm looking for. Now here's what I'm thinking of buying.

I want to get a CAD drum micing kit, which has to snare/ tom mics and a bass drum mic and two CAD E1000 condenser mics for overhead. I can tell by the price that I'm not going to sound like a rock god with this set up. I know these are 100 dollar mics, I'm just making sure that I get something that's at least worth that.

Do any of you have imput here? If this is a really bad idea do you have any ideas for a mic set up that gets my bass, snare and has two overheads? My budget is right about $350 dollars and even that is imaginary money until I actually get the check from Uncle Sham. Oh and I'm getting an ART Tube MP preamp as well. Be hearing from you.

I think you'd get better results with an AKG mic pack ... $399 ... I know a little over budget but maybe you can sell some blood. ;)
