Drumkit From Hell, can't map past 5 minutes?

I know this has to be something stupid and simple but I can't figure it out.

I am running DFH in Cubase SX. I program the drums using the GM map, not the pre-recorded loops. So, I am plugging away towards the end of a song and at 5:00 the little red diamonds go completely clear. My slider is set further down the line and I have my project setup set for 10:00, so I don't know why they go clear and the sound just quits. I can track other instruments past the 5:00 mark just fine. Bass and guitars show up okay. I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening and I've never experienced this with DFH before. I've written 20 minute tracks with DFH in the past.

It seems to be limited to the one project file. I can go across the 5:00 line in another song...

Tried cutting and pasting into a new file, same problem. Fuck this. Going to record on a shitty boom box from now on.

Checked in on another song. Went pretty far past the point where I stopped. This one cuts out at 8:08. The same thing happens. Red diamonds that mark the drum strikes turn clear. Can't get any sound past that point. Guitars and bass will record though. Have no idea what's going on.

Started a new file from scratch, and it cuts me off at 7:14. The red squares turn white. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?

Sorry dude I am baffled.

But I don't think I ever recorded that much midi in one stretch.

Have you tried just rebooting the computer? That fixes 99% of all tech problems.

Yeah, I am still getting this random cutoff point in the GM Map where the drums just go mute. I've rebooted, refiled, cut and pasted, tried everything and I can't figure out what the deal is.

Could be running out of RAM buffer. Have you closed down all other apps and background processes while recording?

Have you tried breaking it into two 5 minutes sessions instead of one 10?

I figured out a workaround. I open a new MIDI track and continue the drums from there. Then when that runs out I am able to switch back to the original MIDI track. In fact, I was able to cut & paste right onto the original and it came out fine. I don't think it's RAM, like I said, I can track other instruments with no issues. It's just like the MIDI craps out. I don't get it. But I can at least get around it for the time being.

So your not going to use the boom box? does this problem persist in other DAW's as well?

I think you just need to draw the MIDI event larger. I'm no expert on stuff like that, but I remember it happening to me. Double click on the event and drag the 'Event End' (I believe it is called) marker farther to the right. That will allow you more space. I think. :)

I don't know, I only have one DAW. And if I wanted to really be KVLT I'd record all of my black metal on a boom box.

I'll give it a try. In the one version of Cubase I used to use there were two sliders at the top, one that would basically set your in and out points when you bounced the song, and another which marked the time of the event, as you called it. In Cubase SX I only see the first slider, and I set up the project length under the project setup drop-down.
