I was looking at buying a copy of Drumkit from hell to use with drumagog. Im looking at the info for DKFH2 and it seems that it is only compatable with Native Instruments type samplers. Am I missing something here? In other words, im pretty sure that the DKFH 1 was just sample library pack in various formats (wav...etc). It appears that this is no longer the case with DKFH 2.
If im just totally clueless some please fill me in. I mean what is DKFH2 geared torwards now? Programming only?

I have DFH2. It comes with the Kompakt sampler, and is not useable as just a sample library, to load into other samplers, apart from Kompakt and Kontakt.

Does Drumagog turn audio drumtracks into midi? If so, DFH2 can read that. Keep in mind that if you use the standard General Midi drum stuff, you won't be using even 20% of DFH2. It uses many different keys for everything (like, 6 keys only for open hi hats).

I don't think drumagog can turn the signal into MIDI. Basically you load a sample library with all of the hit velocities for that sound. You set a threshold for your track that you want to replace along with some other fine tuning stuff. Drumagog triggers the sample library and uses your original track to judge the velocity of the hit and so forth.
Basically its more of a trigger/replacement tool. I though I remembered people discussing Drumagog along with DKFH but apparently that isn't the case anymore. I rarely ever program drums so Im not so sure DKFH 2 would be a wise investment for me. I was just hoping to pick up some killer sounding samples to ocassionally replace stuff with.

might not be such a great idea then. I'm very happy with the DFH2 sound, but it really is a one-trick sound. The hats are usable for many things but the kick and snare (especially the kick) are really geared towards metal.

The layout and usability differ very much from mere 1 note velocity layered samples. I wouldn't buy this package just to have some more tonal options. Buy a sample cd full of one shots if you want more samples to choose from.

Thats why I found it appealing. The multi velocity samples would be a great match for drumagog. Real drummers don't hit completely consistent so the sample library would reflect that when doing replacement with Drumagog. I guess I might go with version one. It doesn't seem to have the samples encrypted like 2 does. Thanks for the info.

No problem :)

On a side note: if you're using E-drums, you might want to reconcider. I've been checking the Toontrack forums and there is a guy there that made a little program which supposedly improves the way DFH2 reacts to triggers used on a drum kit. For instance, while a keyboard will have 5 or 6 keys just for the open hats, this program can turn a single midi note signal into multiple, so you can still use all the hi hat samples with just one e-hat. Might be worth checking out. I know the DFH2 package will install on any computer and run for 2 weeks if not registered, maybe you can find someone to borrow it from?
