does anyone know where i can find free sample libraries that'll work with drumagog? or what 3rd party ones i can buy?

The ones that are offered on the Drumagog site are the only ones I know of.
Purrfect Drums
Dans House Vintage Drums
Farview Recordings Rock Drums Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

Guess which ones I would recomend. Check out the signature.

I recommend Farview's Drumagog samples - I used them quite frequently - they are quite excellent!

i have drumagog but i havent got around to buying any samples yet but everyone has told me that the fairview samples are wonderful. im gonna get them one of these days.

It's Farview. The view is far, the only thing fair is my prices.

That is a reallly cheesy line, I'm ashamed of myself.

As you should be.....but you're cool, so you are forgiven....

How about this:

If your drum sounds aren't becoming to you, you should be coming to Farview.

I'm not sure that is any better.

just need some drum samples that can work for me though!!!

Rock and metal is what they are designed for. Follow the signature.

I listened to the samples on the site for Farview drums, and they pretty much sound like the same kit to me...and some even seemed to have reverb on them. I also was getting a strong dose of "phasey sound" with the HH and the cymbals, even though the mp3 was at 192kbs. The drums also seemed to have that sound reminiciant of the 80's where the drum heads were heavily dampened to get rid of ANY overtones and ringing.

are these samples a good representation of what you get for $100?

The cymbals were all real. Only the drums were replaced. The hi hat is a set of 15 inch Paiste prototypes, they just sound like that when they are half open.

I chose those samples because they were appropriate for the music, the two sound similar because that is what I think the drums for that song should sound like. The one sample that sounded like it had reverb on it were the room mic'd samples. Rock Drums 2 has all of the drums sampled (processed) 4 different ways. One of the ways is turning everything off but the room mics, that was the room sample.

Rock drums 1 has 38 snare gogs, 26 toms and 11 kicks
Rock drums 2 has 44 snare gogs, 60 toms, 16 kicks and 6 cymbals. There is a lot more than in those mp3s.

If you like ringy snares, Rock Drums 2 would be the way to go. Position 2 is usually pretty ringy.

If you like ringy toms, it depends on how ringy. The smaller toms are ringier than the big ones but all the samples were made with the toms tuned low and hit hard. There was no dampening, but I tuned them so they didn't ring excessively. These were all 80's-ish kits, you are hard pressed to find big deep drums anymore. The last thing anyone needs is a maple 15x15 rack tom that never stops resonating.

LOL Fairview! Hey I have a question about drumagog. I notice a small problem with drumagog keeping up with triplets and other fast strokes. Is this just because its the demo version or is this something that happens with all sound replacers? Also can you manually "draw" in your strike, so like if it misses a stroke you can go back but another stroke back in? And finally I noticed that the program mixes up the strikes can you keep it to like 2 different strike types or does the program just do it how it feels it best. Sorry for the noob style questions but I really want to start using drum replacers for the fools that bring in 300 dollar kits and don't know how to tune drums.

Drumagog works kind of the same way a noise gate does. If there isn't enough of a transient for it to notice, it won't trigger. Nothing will.

As far as keeping up, it keeps up with all the speed metal I do. Go to the 3rd tab (the last page) and check the advanced mode. That will keep you from missing triplets.

You can go to the 2nd page and see the samples. If you want to limit it to use only 2 samples, click on the ones you like. Then down towards the bottom, you will see something that says solo and mute. Hit solo on the 2 samples you want and those will be the only ones that are triggered.
