Returned from the dead
ok so hopefully this wont start a holy bloodbath of opinions but i would like to hear some opinions and suggestions on drum VSTi's. i have used NI Battery before which i didnt much care for and now im using EZDrummer with the drum kit from hell expansion and im pretty fond of it.

im always looking to improve any variable of my recording process, equipment and technique so any and all opinions and suggestions are very welcome (but lets try to keep it positive lol)

thanks in advance and as always, much apppreciated - nic

If you like EZ Drummer Id suggest Superior 2...the magnitude for delving into and shaping the sounds is huge, along with the realism...you can also use the EZ drummer kits within it as well as the NY expansions and the new Metal Foundry expansion which Ive heard tons of good things about..

That being said there are others Id consider

Addictive drums is simple and sounds pretty damn decent

Jamstix is about to come out with a 3rd version...its one of the most intuative programs Ive ever seen for any instument..look it up!

and there's BFD, which I havent heard or seen...but gets rave reviews from both users and reviewers

Ive tried Drumcore (you can download a pretty usable freebie from their website) but I didn't like the randomizing on it, and it just feels like loops

I also own Battery 3, came with Komplete, I havent used it much as I prefer more realistic acoustic sounds though that just a personal preference possibly

So, again try some demos, but for me EZ will end up too easy in the end...you may find Superior..well superior..lol..I should be in marketing :)

you can use ezdrummer kits in superior drummer?????????

you can use ezdrummer kits in superior drummer?????????

yup...and any midi files through ezplayer that come with the kit, you can also use the default superior kit to play those midi files..I swear its an immense program..from where exactly you hit the drum down to controlling microphone bleed...also with solo drummer it becomes a standalone

pretty neat huh?

lol i just realized that EZDrummer and superior drummer are both by toontrack.

i definitely wish i had gone with superior drummer rather than EZdrummer... ezdrummer is much better than battery but it still seems pretty generic at times.

thats really cool that you can have so much control in superior drummer. i definitely look forward to trying it :D

thanks for the input!

seriously try the Jamstix demo as well..

They have drummers with different styles that you can either jam with or drop into tracks as midi...each has a different flair that you can use for more complicated or simpler patterns..depending on your need, no two tracks need be the same..

And the bonus is that it'll host any kits you've already got...such as your DKFH and B3 kits..as well as midi files that they'll play according to their style

Sorry to keep unloading stuff but I think some of the drum programs are the most overlooked yet brilliantly designed...and they dont turn up two hours late, drunk, and try to sleep with your girlfriend :)

happy hunting

LMFAO!!! that reminds me of a friend....

and unloading is what i had hoped for :)

always waiting for the next best thing. thanks for the help, i really appreciate it
