I have a kit that I want to trigger, but I've been having some issues with double triggering and crosstalk between triggers. It's and acoustic kit that I have mic'ed but want to add triggers to fatten the sound or have a choice of different sounds. The kick drum was easy to take care of because it is muffled with a pillow and tuned low enough to prevent vibrations. But the snare and toms are a different story. I can either get them to sound good acoustically, or I can get them to sound awful acoustically and get the triggers to work right. I'd like to get the best of both worlds, and I'm sure this is possible. Anyone have any hints or tricks for me? I've tried google and the search function here. I'm using generic piezo transducer triggers mounted on top of the head close to the rim of the drums. Thanks!:)

Get a piece of angle iron from Lowe's that has two screws on either side. You can screw it in the shell on the inside. you can then mount the piezo on the inside. PM me if your interested on the details. I converted my Gretsch kit and the sensitivity was awesome, with no crosstalk.

You didn't mention which brain you were using...?

There's a lot of tweaks inside the TD8/TD10/etc that allow you to tone down double triggering and crosstalk

You either have the sensitivity up way too far or you don't hit your drums very hard. The only other time I've had any problems like this is when I had 6 toms attached to a rack and they were all tuned so that they rang forever.

Play with the sensitivity and gating in your brain. This shouldn't be a problem at all with triggers physically attached to the heads.

I'm using a Yamaha brain (I'm not in front of it at the moment so I don't know the exact model) and it has a autoset function that you can use to set the sensitivity. It also has different settings for snare, toms, kick, ect. I have aslo turned the gate up fairly high, which seemed to work pretty well for the kick, and somewhat on the snare, but the toms are still as bad as ever.

I have never had a issue with not hitting hard enough. I'm not a drummer by trade, but when I do drum, thats the one thing I get right! :D

That sounds awesome! I'll pm you for more info.

Then something is terribly wrong. Turn down the gain on the trigger inputs. There is no reason in the world that hitting the kick would trigger your snare
unless you just have it set way to hot.

Toms are tricky if they are tuned to ring and are mounted on a rack, but if you are really hitting them, it shouldn't be impossible.

The 'auto' setting on most things is useless.

Thanks for the responses! I still haven't heard back from you UPS about the internal mounts that you made, hit me up with some more info when you can. If anyone else has any other ideas, they would be appreciated!
