hey guys, a customer of mine at sam ash is looking to trigger his kick drums for his thrash band. I have already sold him the Roland kick trigger, but the dm5 brain i sold him wasn't what he wanted. He says he has seen a brain that attaches to a cymbal stand, its small and simple.

Does anyone know which brain this is? I can't seem to find it, but if i have a model number i can try to search it up in the system. Thanks in advance

It could be as simple as a Roland MIDI Trigger Converter that triggers samples off a PC as well as any of the TD-6 lines or Yamaha DTXpress line of drum modules...these are the only triggering modules I could imagine being mounted on a cymbal stand unless he's trying to emulate some custom jobs I've seen floating around on the net utilizing Roland SPDS sampler/trigger modules. If he went the SPDS route, it would offer the most responsive triggering/sampling flexibility in a single package unless he wants to expand to triggering more of his whole kit....then a look at the Roland TD-20 would be suggested.

I think he is just looking at a td6 which i sort of in the price range he is talking about.Thanx alot for the help.

If he only wants to trigger his kicks, and doesn't need a bunch of trigger inputs, I'd go with the SPD-S. Much more flexible with it's sampling capability, plus nine trigger pads, and cheaper. I'm ordering one next week with my tax return $$$
