Drum Tracking Area.......opinions required.

Drum tracking areas..............acoustically live or dead, or some point in between? Especially if your room is vertically challenged (8' ceilings).

All comments appreciated.

really depends on what style you are recording and what drum sounds you want. If you can afford the room space I'd say live (you'll have another room for dead??)..... otherwise go dead/variable.

Thanks for the reply. Plans are to have a smallish dead room (vocal booth) but keep the rest of the area relatively live and use gobos where necessary ..........(the booth and control room will happen as budget permits.)......everything currently operates in a 6.5 x 5.7mtr area.
