Crazy Drums. You have some nice fills going on.

Are you planning on adding any more instrumentation?

Okay, you asked about the reverb. Kind of sounds like there may be a little bit too much -- imhop -- Also, the drums sound like they are kind of far away (maybe because of the verb?) --

Very nice drumming! I was banging my head the whole time! -- oh wait, this is jazz -- lol -- :)

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah....too much verb...a learning process for sure. Jazz????? Didn't know where else to post !

Great Drumming, Great Miking, Great Drum Tuning.....

The Snare is great!

Yeah, lose most of the 'verb...:)

Yeah verb is a bit thick alright.

Nice sound though outside of that.

And, great playing! (the double kick is a bit weak though)

Always makes my day hearing some real drums.

Thanks!

verb sounds too fake. unlike an empty auditorium. otherwise the kit seems pretty decent. the hh quickie stuff was a little fizzy sounding. I heard some stick hits...eh?? (1:28?...2:20...etc:eek: )
I could almost deal with the verb on the toms only...but on the kick it gives it that artificial sound.

ahhh...dbl bass....

some noise [really apparent on the final fade] too...

oh...turn up the gtrs too!!!

You can definitely play! :D

Like they said, the reverb is pushing everything too far away... I also think running some compression on the toms wouldn't hurt, but like you said, this is all fresh so it will take a bit to get the right sounds (one of the benefits to having a "sound guy" is you let him/me worry about that :p ).

The ride was a bit loud, crashes were flat and distant, snare a little hollow, kick had only bottom to it (you may have shaved too much from the top)... anyway, I thought I'd share what I noticed, maybe give you a starting point at least.

Beware of mic positioning too, angles and distance from source are critical, especially with drums.

The one thing that was done right was the positioning of everything in the stereo sound field (left/right mixing space, whatever you want to call it  ), everything had its place it seemed.

Can you resubmit without the reverb, would love to hear.

Love drum solos, had to listen!!

Great work, kind of reminds me of Buddy Rich.

I'd love to hear you do a solo on a more old school sounding kit, mainly the snare.

Great work!!

always nice to listen to some real drums/drumming.. Nice sound.. The reverb had too long of a tail on it, otherwise it would have been good imhop.. I also thought the high hat was too loud when it was opened at 1:50ish... Overall, I give this drum solo a 7!

Many, many thanks for the kind words and suggestions. I'll try and answer the questions that were posted and describe the equipment as well.

Lets see...equipment:
Drums: Yamaha Maple Customs
Cymbals: Ride: Zidjian K custom 20"
HH: Zildjian A custom master sounds 14"
Crashes: Paiste 18" full and fast crashes
Paiste 16"fast crash
Splash: Zidjian A custom 10"
Effects Cymbal: 12" Zildjian Remix over a 14" remix
MICS: Audix d2's on all Toms except large floor, D4 there
Shure beta 52 on kick, 57 on snare
Audio Technica as an overhead
Allen and Heath MixWizard 16:2DX board
TC Electronics M1 effects
Running into a soundblaster live card (WEAK LINK)
Using Sonar XL and Tannoy Reaveals as monitors

Yes the double bass is VERY weak...just started learning.
Can't remix without 'verb and alter EQ because it is recorded straight to PC with both included (Sounds like a lesson to me!)
Compression is from Sonar...could change that.

About me.......
Played starting around 4 years old until about 24. Sold everything and didn't play for 15 years. Started again about a year ago. Just for fun....get to play about twice a month. (Family etc........)

Again, I sincerly appreciate all the feedback. I'm having an incredible time just 'doin it for myself" !!!!!

Hey Pinky....we're neighbors !

...ok ..good playing ...the only reason iam listening is i play too..cool.....although i cant solo..to save my life..lol...to me..you need to go into...a ..woops nevermind you just did..lol.....cool groove.....i dont know if you posted this for advice or not.?..so i wont give you any other than i liked it......(except for the double bass part)....but i listen to alot of dream theatre so double bass has to be pretty extrordinary ..to make me stand up and take notice ...
