Zeke, it was a bit too crispee on the overheads. The kick sounds OK but I thouhgt the snare could've come up a little and also the toms. It would be interesting to hear it in the context of a tune as far as the snare and toms go.

ok

mabye it was to crisp in the overhead. a i know that the snare did'nt sound as good as it cound has sounded. i'm saving up to buy me a compreeser to put on the snare.

Just as a tip for getting a good overhead sound, or at least this is what i do, start with positioning the overheads. Play around with those until the whole set has a wide stereo image and a good sound from every piece. I find that if i get these right, i can actually get a clean snare and pretty powerful kick. Make sure the overheads are equidistant from the snare, to make sure it is in phase between both mics and to keep it in the center of the mix. Then add the snare mic, work with that, different angles to the head, different distances from the skin, try everything. Once this is all working well, add the kick. I noticed in your track the kick had a click to it, so if you liek that, get the mic right up against where the beater hits the skin, maybe 4 inches away, this willl give you the New Found Glory kick sound. I find if you mic the hole, you just get a big wooshy sound, instead use the hole to get inside the drum. By this time i usually find i have no need for tom mics, but if it'll be a busy mix, ill add them for punch and stick click. Dont worry if this takes moer than two hours, it'll be worth it. Maybe i gave you more than you needed, but since i started with the overheads i figured why not? :)
