Hey guys,

I tried a completely new method of mic placement (for me) and I'm likeing the results so far.

I've simplified it down to bass/drum tracks right now because im hoping to get feedback on just overall drum quality/mixing.

Thanks a bunch!!!

I thought it sounded good.

I thought everything had a "heavy" feel to it. Good for some mixes, maybe not as good for others. But there's nice power to everything.

Sorry - lots of low end and low-mid range. Lot's of power too. A little less pop-and-sizzle on the higher end. Not a criticism - I liked the sound.

Sounds good. I get the feeling that the cymbals won't cut through when you add other instruments. Also, I prefer my toms more resonant, they sound better in a whole mix that way, but that's a matter of opinion I guess.

Sounds okay I guess. The drums are kind of dead, but that might be the sound you want for this song. The delay on the snare at 2:02 is kind of gay.

haha gay huh? well that part is filled with a guitar fill anyways, so you really wont hear it that much, i kinda like the effect it gives.

any tips on how to liven them up?

Not really. They sound kind of flat at the source. That's not necessarily a bad thing in some situations, but in a busy mix, drums with a more open tone generally cut through and sound better. Generally. I'd like the kick to be a little deeper sounding with a lower pitch. The snare and toms sound pretty decent.

I agree the kick could have some more balls to it. but we will see once the rest of the mix comes in

Agreed it is a dark sounding kit - will work well in certain songs where that mood is required - I'm thinking way back to 60's and 70's rck tunes like Lou Reed... You would need to add the rest to really mix but this is a good start....:D:D:D
