I was at GC getting a Banjo neck worked on and was wondering around the place, went back to the drum section and saw what looked like a nice MIDI drum kit for $250. Not the best, but Simmons SDXpress Compact 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit | Guitar Center for the money, makes sequencing drums a lot easier.
I use a DD-65 and it isn't a nice as these seem to be and I paid almost this much, plus I had to buy a snare stand to sit it on. Better than mouse clicking and a lot more fun. Seems like a good entry point.
