Okay well ive been researching for some mics and i think i made my decision. Im on a very low budget(take that into consideration) but i need opions or suggestions....

Well First off I bought an SM-57 Since its for all purposes. and i have 300 dollars to spend for others that i need... im only looking for 7 mics in total.

Snare: SM-57

Okay now what im planing on getting.
Well since im concentration on spending more on overheads.. im thinking of going with a 4 mic pacakage.

Toms: Digital Reference 100$

My friend is selling me his AKG mic.

Kick: AKG D 112 120$

Now for Overheads this is where i need help!!! Im mostly recording Metal so put that into consideration there wil be a lot of Cymbals ect.

I was thinkng of the Naiant Over heads either he X-Q or MSH-2 (heard only good thing about these mics and there very affordable) http://www.naiant.com/studiostore/microphones.html

I really want to start recording so i dont need PROFESSIONAL mics just some thing i can get by....

oh and ima use a Firepod with Nuendo v3. Any suggestions feel free to tell me! NOW IF UR GOING TO TELL ME SHIT I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT!! IM A BEGINNING JUST TRYING TO START!

Thanks

It shouldn't matter how many cymbals you have. 2 overheads are all you need. You could save some money by getting GLS Audio ES-57's for toms and snare. Roughly $30 each on eBay and they sound very close to the SM-57.

Yea.. im looking for 2 over heads. Thanks imm look them up

I'm told the X-Qs can't handle drums as well because they can't deal with the high levels. I'd go with either the MSH-2 or the X-T (which I believe is an upgraded model of the MSH-2). You might want to check out this thread I started on the topic a couple days ago:

I just ordered the X-Ts, but I won't be able to get at a drum recording for at least a week, so I don't know that I'll be able to help you much as far as samples go.

yea i was reading it... interesting. So far from 1 - 10 What do you think about them ( if u tried them out).

I need overheads mic that dont cost to much... i just want to start recording my band and other bands to make some money.

You could check the K-Micro Silver Bullet Drum Pack. It's 7 condensers with clips at only $80. Some people here seems to like them. The only thing is that you need phantom power on all inputs but I think that's not a problem with you.

Yeah do u hav some samples of how they sound(RAW sample)??

Still waiting on them (I just ordered them the other day), but I'll let you know. I'd like to try them out as overheads next week, but I might not get the chance.

I'd be a little wary of the mic packs, just because I started with a Nady mic pack and you can only get so far with that. The snare/tom mics are fine, but the kick is ok at best and the overheads aren't very good as overheads. The overheads should be the most important part of your sound, so make sure you do it right.

Which NAdy kit did u get??

Yea true thats why im looking for overheads that dont cost but that do the job well done... As of the tom mics, snare, kick im set i just need overheads.

Thanks

Oh i was thinking of getting these But then i changed my mind to the mics i posted up here.
