I think we need a little more info here
By amp's do you me Mic Pre's?
What kinnd of style / drum sound are you going for?
How do you plan on recording it?
What kind of budget?

Ok a little more info...
I don't really know much about drum mics, but I wanna start recording some stuff. Do you plug it into an amp?? Do you plug it all into the same input?? I've got lots of questions. Does anyone know???

ok u get ur mics.....
now to get u started
u can get a mixer
and a TRS cable (1/4 connectors)
but ud have to get a 1/4 connector to a 1/8 (big to small)
so u can plug that in ur soundcard..
but if u want to record all ur stuff and be able to edit each one of them on the computer...then u need a better soundcard like
the delta 1010
with that, you need a mic preamp. You plug your mics in the preamp. then the preamp to ur soundcard.
any more questions?

whats a pre amp? is it the same as a regular amp? Are the cords you need the same as guitar and bass cords? How would you set it up to a recording system? and equilizer??? wahts a mixer do? I dont know about this stuff.

there are others out there, some with more or less i/o. This unit comes with cubase recording software, and can be picked up for about 550 - 600 bucks. like i said there are others out there, less expensive and most of these have pre amps in them.
This is all you need to get started. (mixers come with the recording software)
All the other stuff like eq's and signal processors can be sold as software. They sound the same if not better than hardware and are a lot cheaper and less expensive to ship, manage, and care for.
