drum machine

i just started using cubase le w/Tascam us 122 interface.im also brand new to recording,so speak slowly.does the vst drum machine in cubase le have to have a midi controller to operate it.if so would i be better off w/fruity loops software instead. :confused:

I know in Cubase, you can set up a midi track, but how do you get it to go to the editor page, to where you can make all the adjustments/program(?)? I have tried to open it per the manuals instructions, but to the best of my knowledge I think you have have some kind of midi information recorded to use that. :confused: Is that correct, or am I doing something wrong?
 
take the pencil tool, on the toolbar, and draw a line in the midi track. a new midi event will be created in the midi track. double click the new midi event and the key editor shall open. it took me a while to figure that one out too. pain in the ass is'nt it?

Me too. But when you think about it, it kinda makes sense. You can't edit something that's not there ;)

That was some good info, I dont use midi alot and I havent since my move from Pro Tools to Cubase SX3, so now I can do some midi!

It is a pain in the ass... :mad: The frustrating part is that I have to go back and read all the crap in the cubase manual now on midi, and all the capabilaties so I know how to change the BPM (figured it out finally) and the time signature from 4/4 to anything else... ARGH!

Maybe I just need to... uhh... learn how to build up some patience? :rolleyes:
