drum machine w/ VF80

i just got an alesis SR-16 drum machine and i want to know if theres any way that i can output the drum track onto the VF80 so it will sync up with the metronome in my VF80. Im totally clueless on how to do it.

Assuming that the VF80 is similar to my VF160 - then yes you can sync the SR16 to the recorder. You need to connect the MIDI out of the VF to the MIDI in on the SR16. Set the VF to send MIDI clock, and the SR16 to follow MIDI sync (I think the option is 'Clock In' switch it to ON).
The SR16 is useful for this because it will sync a song or a single pattern.

At some point you will need to get the audio from the SR16 into the VF, which is basically the same as recording anything else.
