Hello all, New here (been home recording as a hobby for 20+ yrs ).
Great Site here.

I have always dealt with stand alone portable multitrack recorders (currently a VS 840EX ). Decided to go into the PC stuff a little (mostly for mixing down, the FX ability is incredible)

Im considering using ( MultiTrackStudio by Bremmers Audio Design ) , its very stable and has pretty much has what Im looking for.

Anyway Im considering using a software drum machine ( Im currently using an Alesis SR 16 :) Luv it but its just a little out dated.)

I have tried a few demos like Fruity loops and the like but am looking for more of a Real drum sounds like what you can find with wave samplers.

I like the Acustica BeatCraft Drum machine with VST and DX plugin support per track (drum pad/sound )its what Im looking for in a drum machine, but it has no Midi,VSTi or DXi plugin ability to another program, so direct synchronizing will not be possible (I plan on adding the drum trks to pre recorded (or loaded) tracks made from the V studio that will be synchronized with MMC/Midi Clock and recorded VIA Optical or Digital into the PC or Mutitrack software).

The only way I thought it might work is to use the Wave file exported out from BeatCraft, then load it into the Mt studio, but Im not sure how well the sync will be with a wave file , figured if the Tempo is set the same for all programs it just might work Or ....... maybe not?

I have thought of using the SR 16 and send Midi notes to run a sampler (for Drum sounds) but not sure I want to do this or how for that matter.

Sooooo dose anybody have any suggestions, advice, links, software, Ideas that could help me out.

Do ya even understand what Im after ??? if not ask me and Ill do my best to explain a little more.

Any help you can give will be great :) as for Im really stuck here and don't know what kind of Drum machine I might need .

Ohhh Im not looking for any 1000$$$$ equipment either, I pride myself on getting the best Quality I can for as cheep as I can get it. Remember All The tools in the world will do nothing until you pick one up and Learn how to use it.

Thank you,

Two programs that are very popular for real drum sounds are DFHS and BFD. They are both capable of very realistic drums with features like 35 gb's + worth of individual drum hit samples, movable virtual drum mics, multiple kits and kit pieces, etc. Neither is cheap at around $300. The results will FAR EXCEED what you're getting with the SR16 though.

Check them out:

Hay thanks,
Ya that looks more like what Im after.

Cool, if anybody else has more to offer keep it coming in. I like to research the death out of stuff before I make a decision

What is this Rewire stuff, keep hearing about it, don't really know what it means or is used for, for that matter?

Thanks

Rewire allows you to virtually connect applications together. For example, you could trigger Reason's synth sounds via rewire using a midi track in Cubase.

OK cool, but is any application Rewire capable or only specific ones, Im guessing only specific ones.
