Ive noticed listening to some producers, dj shadow in specific, that often the drums sound like a loop rather than electronic drums or arranged samples. When is it ok to sample a drum loop and when is it not, because i feel like very time I use a drum loop im being lazy or not being creative for myself. Any insite would be apreciated.

well, thats how he does it. its up to you how the hell you're going to do your drums it doesn't really matter because either way you aint going to play on a set, its someones played/created sample you use. looped or sequenced

Im sure Shadow uses live breaks in his mixes, but he's a fine producer, and can pick the hits that go together, then compress and effect them as a mix.

Loops aren't lazy.... diggin' through miles of crates, finding the right tracks, the cutting them up takes more effort then asking a drummer to play a groove for a measure.
